The Aurora housing estate comprises 668 hectares in Epping North, just a 35 minute drive from Melbourne's CBD.
Over the next decade, it will become one of Melbourne's newest suburbs. But with a focus on the future, it also aims to be the most environmentally sustainable housing development ever built.
The project, run by VicUrban, will encourage sustainable living and a healthy lifestyle. How? Through smart design of housing and infrastructure, walking and bike paths, a six star energy rating for all homes and its own water recycling plant.
There are plans to build up to 9,000 homes ranging from apartments to large blocks. With something to suit all tastes, Aurora will grow to become a diverse and lively community of 25,000 and take its place in the family of Whittlesea suburbs looking forward to a bright future.
