La Trobe University's main campus fills 200 hectares in Bundoora. Since it opened in 1967, it has expanded to other campuses throughout Victoria and built a solid reputation of excellence.
Renowned for its research, La Trobe has a number of institutes and centres which attract international attention. These include the Research Centre for Linguistic Typology and the Centre for Environmental Study and Stress Research (CESAR).
La Trobe is also home to an extensive research and development park. The park hosts a major life sciences cluster comprising the National Institute for Forensic Science and the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research and Biotechnology Centre. Also in the park is the Technology Enterprise Centre - an incubator for companies developing new technology.
